The Excelsior Berlin Hotel is housed in a large, fairly nondescript, 8-storey modern building. The interior is pleasant, with a friendly ambience. The medium size lobby and reception area are furnished and decorated in dark brown tones. Also medium sized, the 314 guestrooms feature dark wooden furniture and brown fabrics. They are comfortable, yet unspectacular. All are none the less in good condition, as are the en suite bathrooms. The hotel’s Grill Restaurant is designed in quite an original style, with wooden barrels on shelves, little curios hanging from the ceiling and wooden floors, all of which combine to create a rustic atmosphere. It serves Cajun specialities. The other restaurant, Peacock Garden, is less distinguished, but generous windows let in plenty of light and offer a pleasant view of the hotel's garden.
