Franke hotel
The hotel is located only 50 metres from the famous Kurfuerstendamm in the centre of Berlin. You can walk in 15 minutes (or take the bus) to sights like the Memorial Church or "KaDeWe", Berlin's most prestigious department store.

Franke hotel
Completely renovated then re-opened in 2003, the Franke Hotel – part of the Agon chain – is housed in a modern building with a rather plain, grey facade. The lobby is medium sized with a comfortable seating area. Also medium sized, the 68 guestrooms are decorated in soothing beige and cream tones. They are very clean and in good condition, as are the en suite bathrooms. There is a bright, friendly breakfast room on the ground floor, offering a Continental buffet every morning. Whether you need an insider tip or help organising a sightseeing tour, the staff is ready to assist 24 hours a day. And naturally, as a guest in a modern business hotel, you have all of the most up-to-date IT technology, including W-LAN (for a fee), available for your unlimited use. Due to its location in a quiet side street just off the Kurfürstendamm, this hotel can offer both the ideal starting point for sightseeing and a relaxing atmosphere to be enjoyed at the end of an eventful day.

I would only recommend this hotel as a very basic hotel. Once you get past the initial 'Oh my god what sort of hotel is this' it was actually OK. Although the hotel was very dated and tired, the beds were comfortable, the breakfast was good and it was in a good location with bars/restaurants nearby and only 5 minutes walk from the nearest underground station. So I would recommend it but only if you are looking for a very basic hotel.
Top Tip
Good Irish bar 10 minutes walk away, Irish Harp pub, Giesebrechtstrasse 15, just off Kurfurstendamm for live sports. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby.

No lounge bar although we were told we could purchase alcohol and drink in the reception area (only enough seats for six people). Breakfasts very good, good choice of cold meats and cheese, cerials, bread and eggs.
Top Tip
Many places to eat within ten minutes walk from the hotel. Rail and bus travel very good throughout the city and stations only five minutes walk from hotel. Very close to the main shopping street. The museums are a must.
